Dr. Knolhoff
Audiologist, Owner
Dr. Kelly Knolhoff has a passion for helping those with hearing loss and tinnitus. Dr. Knolhoff earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of IllinoisUrbana- Champaign. She received her Doctoral Degree in Audiology from Washington University in St. Louis. She has served the Lake Norman Community for the past 14 years and proudly opened her own private audiology practice, Birkdale Audiology in 2019.
This boutique practice is patient- focused and strives to offer individualized solutions, tailored to the patient’s degree of hearing loss, lifestyle and budget. She focuses on Audiology Best Practices, including utilizing real ear measurements through speech mapping for optimal hearing device fitting, and complete diagnostic testing speech in noise testing and cognitive assessment. She enjoys being active in the Audiology community and is a member of American Academy of Audiology (AAA), Academy of Doctors of Audiology (ADA) , and American Speech – Language- Hearing- Association (ASHA). She is proud to be approved as a member of Dr. Cliff Olson’s Best Practice Provider Network.
She is a proud member of Entheos Audiology Cooperative, an organization that focuses on Best Practices for their members, and brings a reason for their work through serving others. Through Hear the Call, a non profit organization meant to bring the gift of hearing around the world, Entheos members have helped people in the United States, Guatemala, Jordan, and Africa have access to better hearing and hearing healthcare.
Dr. Knolhoff loves to teach and supervise Audiology Doctoral students. She has served as a clinical supervisor and hosted externships with students from University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill, East Tennessee State University, Montclair State University, and Towson University.
Dr. Knolhoff is enjoying the Carolina Lifestyles and resides in Huntersville with her husband and two young daughters. Her family is active in the community, as members of St. Mark Catholic Church, and Lake Norman Charter Elementary Community. She loves to travel, is an avid reader, and loves outdoor family activities.
Emily Ackley
Audiology Resident
Emily grew up on Lake Norman and earned her bachelor’s degree in Biology from UNC Asheville. She is currently working on completing the final year of her Audiology Doctorate from Towson University, located near Baltimore, Maryland. She is excited to finally be back home in the Charlotte area. Her favorite part about Audiology is getting to experience the joy of improved hearing and communication alongside her patients. Emily enjoys traveling and was an au pair in Spain prior to beginning her doctoral program. She loves spending her free time with her two furry best friends Harmony, an American Staffordshire mix, and Willow, a husky mix.
Daniela Krysl
Patient Care Coordinator
Dani recently relocated to North Carolina from Fort Worth, Texas. She earned her first Bachelor of Science in Community, Family, and Addiction Sciences in 2018 from Texas Tech University. She then graduated with a second Bachelor of Science in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences in 2019 and a Master of Science in Healthcare Administration in 2020 from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Dani has worked in both clinical and clerical positions across various healthcare settings. She is excited to further her skill set and education in the Audiology field by incorporating her diverse background and passion for better speech and hearing.
Dani is adjusting to her new home with her husband and two four-legged daughters (a Mini Dachshund named Daisy, and a Red Heeler named Summer). She loves the numerous outdoor adventures North Carolina has to offer and the feasibility of taking day trips to the beach or mountains.
